Xbox 720 to feature ‘Touchscreen’ Controller

It's only 23.87 inches from end to end, no worries. Wait, what?

As if we didn’t have enough hi-definition and up-to-date gadgets in the world already! I am not joking, I saw a commercial in Florida a couple of years ago that offered wall paint, like for a house, that came in hi-def colors. WOW! I can actually paint my house now, thanks for the relief. At least sales should be good for the overpriced paint, right?

Xbox World‘s sources recently touched on the next-gen Xbox system, the Xbox 720 may include a touchscreen controller, similar to the Wii U. This touchscreen like ‘pad’ will offer “an HD screen surrounded by the traditional 360 buttons and sticks.”

XBW said “That touchscreen will be second only to Kinect in how you operate your console. It could be a remote control when you’re watching TV, a browser when you’re on the internet, extra buttons and information when you’re playing a game or a portable display when you want to take your game with you.”

The controller itself, pictured here, looks more like the shape and style of the PSP or the PS Vita, rather than the Wii U which XBW claims to be a ‘bulky unit’.

Because of the popularity of tablets, touchscreens, the Nintendo DS, Wii U, and the Xbox Kinect, it’s pretty apparent that tablet-like functionality will factor heavily into the next generation of Xbox, and in all future consoles for that matter. Too bad Xbox can’t compete with your local home improvement stores at giving your home some supreme high-definition!
