Darksiders 2 Game Engine Confusion
Darksiders 2 is the upcoming sequel to the popular truly apocalyptic action game, um, Darksiders. Bet you didn’t see that coming. Developed by Vigil Games and published by THQ, Darksiders 2 places you in the shoes of Death himself. As there are already plenty of previews out there to slate your thirst (this one in particular is really good), I won’t go into more detail about gameplay and development. However, THQ released an interesting bit of information yesterday, regarding Darksiders 2.
THQ tweeted the following:
Now, this can all get a little confusing. If you look up the engine for SpaceMarine, it’s clearly not labeled as “Watchman.” SpaceMarine used an engine called the “Phoenix Engine.” As I understand it, Relic took the engine Vigil Games developed and rebuilt it to their liking and re-branded it the “Phoenix Engine.” Please, correct me if I’m wrong, but that’s what it looks like with the information at my disposal.
At any rate, Darksiders 2 looks like a beautiful game and will release in June of this year on PS3, Xbox 360, Windows, and eventually, the Wii U.
