Final Fantasy X white logoDespite initially announcing that Final Fantasy X HD for the PlayStation 3 and PlayStation Vita would be an HD remake, Shinji Hashimoto announced at the Taipei Game Show, “The game is being developed like a high-definition remaster, but the visuals will look much better compared to the original.”

In other words, rather than correcting any mistakes in the original release (I’m looking at you, voice acting), the game will be closer to an HD version of the game, similar to The Ico/Shadow of the Colossus Collection. However, after looking at other HD-remastered games, improved visuals may open the game to new audiences who missed the original release.

No release date, screenshots, or trailers have been announced yet.

  1. Somewhere inside me, I still hope that they’ll release a remake of FFVII. I know Squeenix said they didn’t have any interest in it; however, a part of me thinks that they’re just hiding it until they announce the remake as a launch title for the PS4. A man can dream, right?
