Nintendo Network… Nin-network?
Nintendo President Satoru Iwata sounds serious about the Nintendo Network… this time. But the truth of the matter is that Nintendo might be too far behind the curve on a stable network that appeals to a crowd of gamers who are accustomed to a solid online experience. It’s going to take Nintendo some time to develop a network that is free of hiccups, and by the time they do, the networks provided by Xbox and Playstation will be far ahead.
Regardless of the setbacks Nintendo Network will face in its baby years, the network will be a healthy addition to the company; they have been missing out on the DLC and Online Pass train, as well as offering gamers the chance to play some potentially amazing titles online such as Smash Brothers, Mario Kart, and Wii Sports games.
One item that has held the release of the network includes safeguarding children from adult content or unwanted transactions, and Nintendo is known for its focus on the younger crowd. It is likely they will create restrictions on online chat functionality.
Although the release of the network doesn’t seem close by, it is welcome and sure to bring a richer experience to gaming on Nintendo’s consoles.
