Remember the ridiculously long and multiplied announce dates for StarCraft 2? Well, Blizzard kind of has that right, making sure their products are perfect before shipping them to the fans. After all, any fan of a Blizzard game will tell you what about the place it holds in their heart.
Blizzard has announced that there will be no BlizzCon for 2012. For those of you who don’t know, BlizzCon is the annual Blizzard Convention showcasing their three internationally successful real-time strategy games, StarCraft, WarCraft, and Diablo, and also World of Warcraft. The company has released information that their focus, drive, and attention needs to be placed in a much more important place, the making of StarCraft 2: Heart of the Swarm and Diablo III. Obviously all you nerds are probably pretty upset right about now, right?
Well don’t be. If you paid any attention to 2011, Blizzard did not release any games whatsoever, and it’s appearing that two games for sure, maybe a third or fourth could be released this year. Really there shouldn’t be much to fret over considering that they made us an incredibly good and well-chosen promise that the wait for StarCraft 2 would be ‘well worth it’. Just look at the MLG world of the game, need I say more?
Blizzard is currently working on several other big projects currently as well, including a possible ‘next-gen MMO’, and expansions to World of Warcraft. They also announced on the 24th that a Battle.net World Championship will take place in Asia towards the end of this year, marking a major global eSports event and tournament. Cash prizes and the fun of any big event will be offered to both Blizzard gamers and eSport fans around the world.
