Bethesda Purchasing Fallout MMO as Part of Settlement
As part of the the settlement agreement, Bethesda’s parent company, ZeniMax, will purchase full development and ownership rights of the MMO for $2 million dollars. After that, Interplay and Masthead studios will no longer develop the MMO and lose all future rights to Fallout Online.
In addition to the MMO, Interplay will also lose rights to Fallout, Fallout 2, and Fallout Tactics. Fortunately for Interplay, these original titles will be available as the Fallout Trilogy from Interplay until December of 2013. After that, the rights will move to Bethesda, as part of the purchase agreement.
Both companies will pay for their own legal fees.
With Bethesda, publisher of Fallout 3 and Fallout: New Vegas, as sole owners of the Fallout franchise, what new or old Fallout project would you like to see?
